Circle September 30 in your diary as NNBC chiefs have revealed it will be a special day for Northampton’s newest radio station.
NNBC’s new look and name will be unveiled with a launch celebration that will include a chance to meet presenters, collect giveaway goodies and find out details of a so-called secret gig in Northampton showcasing The Shoetown Sound.
Events will centre on the Market Square during the day with a stall but later a special night of music featuring up to six local bands is planned.
A station insider said: “There has been a lot of talk around NNBC lately about The Shoetown Sound and what kind of music really represents the live scene in Northampton. There is so much live stuff going on here but no-one is pulling it together and saying what it it is. Is it about the Far Cotton bluesmen, the jazz fusion of Abington of the heavy bass of the Semilong beats? People are passionate about it. It’s a debate the station wants to open up to the public and this special launch party gig is the start of it.”
