Election Special

Rich Beeby and Steve Riches

The University of Northampton Journalism students will be working through the night to deliver election results as part of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) overnight radio feed.  Students will spend the night networking with professional journalists and politicians to deliver up to the minute results that will be part of the BJTC’s nationwide radio programme and results service from 10pm on 8 June to 6 am on 9 June. 106.9 NNBC, Northampton’s newest radio station, will be broadcasting the service.

Then, in the morning of 9 June, NNBC’s breakfast show presenter, Rich Beeby, will collaborate with Steve Riches, formerly BBC Northampton’s Breakfast show presenter and journalist, with journalist Simon Pipe and Northampton University students to deliver a complete run down of who was elected and why, what they said, and what the future might hold for Northampton.

They will be joined by two of Norhtampton’s MP’s, Tony Clarke and Brian Binley, who will be giving their views on the election results.

The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology, Kate Williams said “This is an ideal opportunity for our students to cut their teeth on a live news story as it’s happening,  broadcasting across the country as one of the biggest political stories of the year develops.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to ring in to NNBC on Friday morning with your questions, observations and possible jubilation at the election results on 01604 45 25 11.
