NLive upgrades and reveals the Shoetown Sounds

The NLive upgrade took place on Saturday with a day of broadcasting from Northampton Market Square and the first Shoetown Sounds gig in the evening.

Nlive’s historic first outside broadcast featured chats with street performers, station presenters and even a burst of live barbershop singing while visitors tucked into PickNMix, took part in competitions and got their hands on a coveted NLive tee shirt.

In the evening the action switched to The Lab when Rachel Schouten and Nathan Wiseman Trowse curated the first Shoetown Sounds gig which was also broadcast live.

Listeners were treated to performances from Hannah Brooks, Deep Sea Mountains, Burrowing Bees, O’Mahon and Charlotte Carpenter.

Station Manager Shelly Stevenson said: “We’ve had quite a weekend. I’m pooped! I want to thank the volunteers for their incredible efforts in making all this possible. Right at the forefront of that are our amazing presenters who put so much work in behind the scenes that nobody sees. We will be doing lots more outside broadcasts in the future. People are already asking us to come to their events!”

During the day it was announced that NLive has raised over £200 for its first charity of the month, Cynthia Spencer Hospice, through Cycle4Cynthia and a half-marathan which presenter Chris Harris jogged on the spot (pedometer in place) during his show.

October’s charity of the month is Baby Basics.
