Eve supports people who are affected by domestic abuse – victims and survivors who are women and children. They run a range of services for victims, including a refuge where women can go with their children for safety as well as an Occupational Therapy programme that helps women recover their mental health after abuse, allowing them to dispel anxiety, PTSD, and to heal. In fact, Eve is unique in being the only domestic abuse service provider in the Country to offer Occupational Therapy as an integral part of their rehabilitation and recovery programme.
Eve also aims to prevent domestic abuse, not just protect and save the victims. They provide a programme to help men who use coercive and abusive behaviours to take responsibility and to change their attitudes, values and beliefs. They have also been asked to work with women who were thought to be perpetrators of violence and there is no other group that works with female perpetrators in the county, so they work with them on a one to one basis.
Chris and Shelly spoke to Nikky from Eve about what they do, and how you can help.
