Hooley: I don’t think Piers hit my head

USA fly-half Will Hooley has backed Piers Francis after the Saints player was cited for a suspected high tackle on him at the World Cup.
Will, who currently plays for Bedford but is a former Saints player himself, wrote in the Guardian explaining why he gave no evidence to the disciplinary hearing that eventually cleared Francis of any wrongdoing.
He said: “It was the beginning of the game, nothing came of it and, contrary to popular belief, I don’t believe I was hit in the head. Trust me, you know when that happens. If anything, the contact felt like it was to my shoulder. I didn’t see a huge problem with it and agree with the disciplinary panel’s verdict to dismiss the citing.”
