Cynthia Spencer Hospice is our first Charity of the Month and to celebrate we are entering a team in the Cycle 4 Cynthia bike ride on September 24th.
Steve Scoles, Andy Johnson and Geoff Williams are taking to the saddle to raise money for the event.
“The radio station is all about being part of and connecting the community and there’s a couple of us who love a good bike ride, so Cycle 4 Cynthia was the obvious option.
“Each month we are going to be highlighting a good cause and supporting its work. Cynthia Spencer Hospice is an amazing charity that reaches out to people in their darkest hour. We all hope we’ll never need their help and perhaps that’s the best reason to give ours,” said Steve, Head of Community Engagement.

The 24th of September will mark the 15th annual Cycle4Cynthia but the event began in 2003 when business man John Pinkham urged some of his friends to take part in a sponsored bike ride to raise funds for the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
The event went beyond just inviting friends and family in 2004 when the hospice started a £1.5 million appeal. Mr Pinkham opened the event up to the public and a local tradition was born.
Last year’s event saw 1100 riders raise over £70,000. Since 2005 there have been three distances on offer: five, 25 and 50 miles. The money raised goes to the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice. Macmillan Cancer Support and Kidsaid will also benefit.
This year’s event returns to Lamport hall and is on course to be the biggest in its history.
