Charity worker raises over £2k climbing equivalent of Everest on stairs

A charity worker from Moulton has climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest using her stairs during this Easter weekend.

Steph Steward raised over two thousand pounds doing the challenge, over ten times more than she set her target as.

It meant that the 33 year-old had to climb her stairs 3,871 times to reach the equivalent of the summit. She spent between seven to nine hours over four days to achieve the goal.

“It was a tough mental battle, not going out of the house for four days. Even though I’m only going for a walk or to the supermarket.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been in the house for four days straight, but it showed me what MND sufferers and other vulnerable people are going through as they’re in the house for a minimum of 12 weeks.”

The challenge left her with “jelly legs”, and her calves were aching for over two days after she’d completed.
