Northampton’s rich mosaic of communities are coming together at Becket’s Park for the second Northampton Mela – the festival of friendship.
The free event takes place on Sunday July 28 between 12 and 4pm and features a main stage for performers alongside stalls for food, information and community organisations.
Among the highlights on the main stage is Bespoke Ballroom from the Kristina Rihanoff School of Drama and Dance.
There will also be belly dancing, Irish dancing, Sikh drummers, Russian folk dancers and the Cynthia Spencer Choir.
Celebrity hosts on stage will include Mark Dean, Nisha Mejer and Hassan Shah.
Among other attractions the police firearms team and a fire engine will be on site and there will also be a climbing wall.
This the second Northampton Mela, the first was in 2017, and it is the brainchild of the Buddies of Beckets group which organises a variety of activities to support and promote the park.
