Firefighters Battle Barn Blaze

Firefighters were called late last night to reports that plumes of black smoke could be seen and that a fire started in a Northamptonshire barn near Long Buckby, believed to have started from a wood chip catching fire. The firefighters spent all night trying to put out the blaze.

A Northamptonshire fire department spokesman released a statement saying “We are currently attending a large barn fire at a farm in Long Buckby. Six crews were called to Station Road in the village at 8.11pm where a quantity of wood chip was alight. An aerial platform and water bowser are in use and we received assistance from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and support from Northamptonshire Police the Warwickshire appliance has now been released but the incident is continuing. Residents are urged not to attend the scene and keep windows and doors closed until at least midday”
