It’s the year that keeps on giving for The Lowdown, a local charity which support young people on their journey towards positive emotional health and wellbeing. This year they have celebrated their 30th Birthday, been recipients of The Queens Award for Voluntary Services and been chosen as the Mayor’s Charity.
The organisation are now rightfully celebrating again from receiving a whopping £58,700 of funding from The Wilson Foundation.
The Wilson Foundation is a charity established to give ‘a helping hand’ to young people in Northamptonshire. With The Lowdown offering counselling, emotional wellbeing, sexual health and LGBTQ support services for 11-25 year olds, this partnership was bound to happen eventually.
The Wilson Foundation’s donation will be used specifically to help fund The Lowdown’s youth counselling services. Sharon Womersley, CEO of The Lowdown, says “We are delighted to receive this support from the Wilson Foundation. This will help The Lowdown in our mission to increase capacity and reduce waiting times for young people accessing our much-needed counselling service. Last year alone we supported over 600 young people and demand continues to grow.”
