Gourmet delivery service is top chef’s recipe for beating COVID-19
Written by Chris Harris on March 19, 2020
Northamptonshire’s Chef of the Year is doing his bit to help those self-isolating during the coronavirus pandemic by offering an exclusive doorstep delivery service.
Danny Tompkins, who won the accolade at the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards, is ensuring anyone looking for a high-quality meal doesn’t have to miss out because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
With pubs and restaurants closing because of the disease, Danny has moved to set up his own delivery service with the aim of making sure everyone can still enjoy top class food and drink in the comfort of their own home.
Diners will be order dishes including slow roast shoulder of lamb, garam masala salt cod and pistachio dustred donuts, with starters priced at £5, mains at £10 and desserts £5. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available. Wine and beer can also be ordered to accompany your meal – with deliveries available within a five mile radius of Harlestone (minimum order £15).
Danny spoke to our very own Chris Harris about it all:
Danny’s interest in cooking began at a young age when he watched his father Brian reach the finals on MasterChef 1993. Watching Brian’s passion for cooking inspired him to spend time in the kitchen himself, learning culinary techniques and sampling new flavours. Starting as a pot wash in his local village pub whilst still at school, he went on to work in high-end restaurants including Fawsley Hall and has cooked for the likes of Earl Spencer and Jay Z.
He is continuing to offer private dinner parties (small groups only during the current restrictions), where he will cook in your own home for you and your guests.
