Jeyes Jetty could be gated round the clock

An alley connecting Gold Street and the Drapery in Northampton town centre could be gated around the clock if Northampton Borough Council’s Cabinet approves the idea on Wednesday night.
Jeyes Jetty is a magnet for anti-social behaviour including drug taking, urinating, defecating and fire-starting. In a consultation on the closure plan over 70 per cent of the 188 respondents were in favour.
Some nearby buildings use the jetty as a fire escape and it is also a part of the historic street layout of Northampton.
