A new drama to be broadcast on NLive will tell the amazing story of how Northampton halted a Scottish invasion of England.
Jacobite Productions takes us back to the 18th century when Bonnie Prince Charlie’s army of highlanders was rampaging through the north of England.
They got as far as Derby and were planning to take Northampton then London but it didn’t happen and Black Friday 1745 tells why.
Jacobite Productions Creative Director and history buff Matthew Widdowson said: “People don’t know about the key role Northampton played in saving the country as Bonnie Prince Charlie attempted to overthrow the Germany monarchy and restore the Stuart line.
“Eventually we want to have a trilogy of plays covering the whole story including Bonnie Prince Charlie’s eventual escape.”
Matthew and some members of the cast visited the NLive studios to talk about the production.
For details of how you can hear the play on Soundcloud or buy a copy of it on CD go to @jacobiteproductions on Facebook.
Black Friday 1745 will be broadcast on NLive on Friday at 10.30am.
