NLive Volunteers among those celebrated as community champions

Written by on October 24, 2020

NLive Radio’s volunteers were put forward as part of Northamptonshire ACREs COVID-19 Community Champions.

Northamptonshire ACRE would like to say a big ‘Thank you and Well done’ to the 76 community groups and individuals who entered Northamptonshire ACRE’s COVID-19 Community Champions celebration. They want to honour all who entered and who are making such a positive impact in their local communities.

Earlier in the year, community groups were encouraged to send ACRE photos, videos, stories and information highlighting the work they have been doing during the coronavirus lockdown and after.

NLive Radio’s volunteers were put forward for all the work they have been doing helping to keep listeners and the wider Northampton community connected, entertained and informed with what’s going on across the town and it’s response to COVID-19, with all the NLive presenters broadcasting from home since lockdown.

Martin Steers, Station Manager of NLive Radio said ‘I’m so grateful and proud of all the effort and energy put in by our volunteers, a few who are also key workers doing a day job out in the community and then in their free time presenting radio shows on NLive’.

Elaine O’Leary, Chief Executive of Northamptonshire ACRE said ‘We are absolutely thrilled with the number of entries submitted and the quality and range of support these volunteers are providing to the most vulnerable people in their community. With everything that has happened over the past few months, we think it is important to showcase and celebrate the fantastic work going on in Northamptonshire’.

All the groups who entered will be presented with a certificate and booklet showcasing the work of all our community champions and will be invited to attend a celebration evening on 12th May 2021 at the Hunsbury Hill Centre. Over the coming weeks ACRE will be profiling each of the community champions on their social media and website.
