NLive Radio presenter Nik Stevenson completed the London Marathon to raise money for the Movember Foundation.

It was Nik’s first marathon and also the hottest London Marathon on record but that did not stop the Northampton priest.

He reported to followers on his Facebook page: “Scraped in under 6hrs, my watch recorded temperatures of over 30 degrees…

Nik tells the story of how he was inspired to raise money for the Movember charity, which fights men’s health problems, on his Just Giving page.

“Back in the summer of 2016 I was at my heaviest I had ever been. My health just seemed out of control.  I decided I need to make a change and I heard about Move Like a Pro a scheme which promised to help me with simple exercises and easy to follow meal plans and best of all based around my favourite sport rugby.

“I managed to loose 10kg before attending the course as I couldn’t wait to turn my life around.  Using the meal plans and the exercise routines suggested by the coaches on the course I managed to lose a further 15kg.  I also discovered I loved to run.

“After the course I knew I needed to keep pushing so I gave myself the target of running the Northampton Half Marathon.  My fitness improved and I have continued to lose more weight slimming by a further 10kg.  The training was hard work but I learned how to run in minimalist shoes to give my joints a chance and finished the course in 2:22.42.

“Ready for a new challenge I decided to run the London Marathon. Movember has made such a difference to my life by helping me on the Move Like a Pro scheme and I want to give back so other men can improve their health and reduce their risk of getting cancer.

“I was lucky enough a gain a gold bond place so am trying to raise £2,500 please give generously so other men can turn their lives around.”
