Northampton Carnival Goes Online

Written by on June 5, 2020

It is the time of year that preparations would be under way to welcome you and your family to The Racecourse on Carnival Day and you would be getting ready to take part in or witness another spectacular Carnival Parade!

To ensure that communities are kept safe in the midst of this global pandemic, the event as we know it has had to be cancelled.  However, carnival will still be happening in the form of “The Online Edition” on Saturday 13 June starting at 2 pm.

You can join in on social media, including Facebook, Instagram, the Northampton Carnival website and YouTube to enjoy these online celebrations. The Northampton Carnival team are encouraging troupes and groups to get involved where possible and record a carnival activity that can be posted and shared on the day.

As members of the East Midlands Carnival network, they are also encouraging young persons, especially in schools to get involved a mask-making competition.  This competition is now open and will close on 5th July.

Why not get involved and record you and your group making something for the competition?  And be sure to let us at NLive have a picture of your finished product so that we can post it on our pages!

You can find out more at the Northampton Carnival Website here.
