Northampton gives debuts to two new arrivals at County Ground

Written by on April 21, 2022

Aussie Matt Kelly and Kiwi Will Young are set to make their first-class Northamptonshire debuts against Yorkshire on April 21st.

Yesterday evening Head Coach John Sadler has announced his 13 man squad, and amongst regular names, two of this seasons signings have been featured.

Young comes to Wantage Road following an impressive debut year for the New Zealand Test side, and similarly Matt Kelly after an impressive summer for Western Australia.

Sadler, said: “It’s great to have them here, they bring that experience, they bring that class and they are both really good, humble guys as well, which makes a difference as they will fit into our unit really well.

We do our homework and it’s really important to get the right characters involved as they are going to be with us for quite a while, and when you are living in each other’s pockets day in, day out, it can be quite intense.”

The Northamptonshire side will host Yorkshire for the first time in Division One since they last played top flight cricket.
