Northampton is ‘Up for the Cup’

Written by on July 30, 2021

Northamptonshire University joined forces with other Northampton organisations that are on a mission to up the town’s green credentials as part of a new, national recycling campaign.

The Northampton project is called Up for the Cup and started in the autumn of 2019, with the aim of collecting and recycling as many disposable cups as possible to reach a target of 160,000.

The coronavirus pandemic slowed the collection and recycling of cups as many of the partners had to close throughout the initial 12-month timeline, but the scheme is continuing to help recycle takeaway cups which otherwise are often not recycled.

As part of our Greener and Cleaner Northampton campaign, we spoke with Emma Stone Environment Advisor at the University of Northampton about the Up For The Cup Project.
