Northampton to Become Cultural Champion with new Funding
Written by Chris Harris on February 18, 2020
Arts Council England has granted Northampton £20,000 in order to build on the cultural offerings in the county, helped by the creation of a “Cultural Board”.
This Cultural Board will help to enhance the vibrant scene in Northamptonshire, and help to embed it into the county’s DNA. With other changes and developments in Northampton, such as Northampton Forward, this new project will help to revitalise and re-image the town and county.
The development of Northampton’s Cultural Quarter is a huge focus to the Board, and they are hoping to transform it into a destination that will attract world-class creative talent to the area, as well as promoting the town as a visitor destination.
Partners of the project currently include Engine Creative, Northampton BID, NN Contemporary, and the University of Northampton. This list is set to expand as the project develops.
The Cultural Board is newly formed, and will be looking for an individual to help it establish, drive, manage and co-ordinate it. Details on that role will be announced soon.
