Northampton Town FC on the verge of promotion
Written by UON News Team on April 21, 2022
The Cobblers are currently sitting in a play-off position of 4th place in League Two following their three-nil Easter Monday win at Sixfields Stadium against Harrogate.
The club’s ideal plan is to finish in the top 3 as that means automatic promotion to back into League One.
Northampton Town were promoted to League One in 2020 and only spent one season there before being relegated to League Two again in 2021.
While Forest Green are the favourites to win League Two, the other clubs have everything to play for as there is only a four point gap between the playoff teams.
Sam Hoskins is the top scorer so far with 12 goals in 41 games.
The forward scored two of their three goals contributing to their win over Harrogate.
As they go into their final three games this season, Northampton Town will travel to Brisbane Road this Saturday to face mid-table Leyton Orient.
Following this match, they will go up against 2nd place Exeter at home, and finish the season away at struggling team Barrow who sit in 21st.
With only nine points left to gain, Northampton Town need every win they can get.
