The Lowdown Goes Remote
Written by Chris Harris on April 2, 2020
Youth charity The Lowdown are still working to provide emotional support to young people and their families and are working hard to keep services running as smoothly as possible.
Enquiries, as always, can be sent to [email protected] to be managed remotely by admin staff, or you can call them weekdays 9-6 on 01604634385.
Self-Referrals will reopen imminently for remote support, but only Mon-Fri 11am-5pm. This service is delivered by qualified counsellors via video conference tool Zoom, or telephone.
The Wellbeing ‘drop-in’ is replaced by a support helpline (01604 622223), 1:00 to 3:30pm Tuesday to Friday and Mondays 1:00 to 7:30pm. This will be managed by counsellors who also supports the crisis café.
Sexual Health Service Sexual Health queries are being diverted to Northampton Integrated Sexual Health (NISH) clinic (telephone number 01604 609766). They are not doing walk-ins but there is a small team in the clinic to provide telephone consultations for any STI symptoms or emergency contraception; these clients will be able to pick up their prescriptions. Testing kits can be ordered online and posted to people. The Lowdown will also be promoting good sexual health practice on their website and social media.
LGBTQ remote support will be available for group members Mon-Fri 10am-11am, and 2pm-3pm, on the usual group phone and email. There is also a dedicated Instagram page where our young people’s creativity is being shared @out_there_creations
Crisis Café services on Monday at Cafe Track in Northampton will take place 4pm-8pm, and at Kettering Youthworks 4pm-8pm. This will continue and from next week The Lowdown will also provide this service “virtually” as well as face to face.
