Tributes are paid to PC Alex Prentice after his sudden death

Written by on April 28, 2022

Tributes have been paid to Northamptonshire Police Constable Alex Prentice, who died suddenly after a short illness.

Northamptonshire Police’s Road Crime team announced the sad news on Tuesday:

Chief Constable for Northamptonshire Police, Nick Adderley said on Twitter:

“Today Northamptonshire Police mourns the loss of our colleague and friend, PC Alex Prentice. Alex was a hugely popular, knowledgeable, and dedicated officer who others turned to and relied upon for support and guidance. His passing is being felt right across the force.”

PC Prentice served the people of Northamptonshire for over 20 years and in 2015 he was attacked by a man wielding an eight-inch knife. He was also credited for his actions in trying to save the life of Rayon Pennycook, who was fatally stabbed in Corby in May 2021.

Radd Seiger, who is the adviser and spokesperson for the Harry Dunn family said:

“So sad to see this. Alex was a hero, lovely with it, and had a great sense of humour. He looked after us at the protests and rides for Harry with superb professionalism ensuring they all passed off peacefully. Thoughts with his family and you all at this time.”
