Description of character of service
NLive Radio is for people who live, learn, work and play in Northampton and its environs. Working in partnership with the University of Northampton, it provides a mix of local news, current affairs, local information and music, delivered by local presenters, local contributors and students. As well as supporting and promoting local initiatives, it works to involve the broader community in the life of the station. The provision of training, which is accessible to local volunteers as well as students, is a key feature.
The studio is located within the licensed coverage area.
The service provides a range of community benefits (social gain objectives mandated by statute) for the target community, both on-air and off-air, and in doing so, achieves the following objectives:
• the facilitation of discussion and the expression of opinion,
• the provision (whether by means of programmes included in the service or otherwise) of education or training to individuals not employed by the person providing the service, and
• the better understanding of the particular community and the strengthening of links within it.
Members of the target community contribute to the operation and management of the service.
The service has mechanisms in place to ensure it is accountable to its target community.
The station has a remit to serve the entire population of Northampton, this means we try and cater for the majority of the town across the majority of our output, so you will mainly hear shows with entertainment, information, about Northampton, with music mainly from the 80s to today. But with additional specialist content and music to cater for communities of interest and identity. ALL with the aim that across our schedule there is something for everyone.
The station us run by Martin Steers the full time Station Manager, who us supported by a part time station assistant, and a volunteer operations group made up of volunteer coordinators.
If you have any feedback on the station, positive, constructive, or complaints, please do email hello(at)nliveradio.com, if you are unhappy with our response you are welcome to raise the issue further with Ofcom.
